Makeup DOs and DONTs From Your Friendly Neighborhood College Student

Makeup is everything to me. I'm the type of girl that will wear a full face of a makeup to my 8AM class and will not complain one bit about waking up a tad bit earlier to do so. I love looking cute, and even though I don't need makeup for that #hehe it makes me feel like my best self. I am in no way a makeup artist or anywhere near being one, but after my extensive makeup tutorial binge, I feel like I have enough knowledge and confidence in makeup to make a post about it.

DO use a magnifying mirror when applying your makeup. I wholeheartedly think everyone should invest in one, especially if it has a light. This is such a big help, especially when you're rushing in the morning and have to make sure everything looks nice and sharp. I always notice a difference when I don't use my magnifying mirror!
DONT match your foundation to your face. Instead, match it to your neck. This way, it blends seamlessly from your face to your neck, and you don't have to worry about the dreaded line of demarcation.
DO blend your eyeshadow... religiously. I cannot say this enough. We always want to look like we just got our makeup professionally done. My favorite tip to make sure my eyeshadow is blended fully is that after you apply the eyeshadow, take a clean blending brush and use that to blend in the shadow. This way, you're not adding any extra shadow. If your eyeshadow is looking like a five layer dip instead of looking like a gradient, well... good luck sweetie.
DONT go to sleep with your makeup on. I know this one is said over and over again, but it's so super important. Give your face a break! It will clog your pores, which is not cute. It can create acne and spots, which no one ever wants. You can wear all the makeup you want, but if the skin underneath isn't good, then really what's the point? I love using a makeup wipe to take off my makeup first and then washing my face to make sure all the gunk is out of my skin before I sleep.
DO set your makeup. It may seem like a useless step, but it's actually extremely important. Setting sprays are everything to me. It'll really tie your whole look together. Plus, if you feel like your makeup is looking super powdery or chalky, if you will, setting spray will fix that. I don't know what's in that stuff, but it's a godsend.
DONT use an eyebrow product shade that's the same color as your hair. You should always get a shade that's a few shades lighter or a few shades darker, depending on your hair color. That's not to say get a blonde shade if you're a brunette or to get an ebony shade if you're blonde. I say, usually go one to two shades darker if you're a blonde and one to two shades lighter if you're a brunette. This way, you'll have naturally looking eyebrows instead of ones that look like sharpies.
DO apply highlighter on your cupids bow for a more plump lip look. When you put highlight in this area, it opens up your lips and makes them look almost twice as large! I love this tip, especially when I know I'm going to be wearing a darker lip color. It also adds dimension to your face and lips, which is always a plus. You don't want to end up looking flat! Add some life to ya face hunni!
DONT skip your moisturizer. Like I said before, your base is of the same importance as the makeup itself. Make sure you put on moisturizer before you put on any type of makeup. Not only will it make your skin look better, it'll also add a layer between your skin and your foundation. That will help your skin in the long run too!
Hopefully by the end of this post, you learned a tip or two! Let me know if you end up using any other! Thanks for stopping by!
